How Much Does a Boat Wrap Cost?

Most boat wraps cost $1,500–$8,000. Many shops estimate at $50–$75 per linear foot before they see the boat. Length, how much of the hull you cover, and the design set your price.

Those are typical industry ranges, not a quote. Below we compare a wrap to a marine paint job, explain what Gulf sun and salt do to vinyl, and cover what to expect on a bay boat, bass boat, or pontoon.

Boat wrap or paint — which makes more sense?

A marine paint job is a permanent refinish. It takes a lot of labor and usually costs several times what a wrap costs. It also keeps the boat out of the water much longer. In Louisiana, that often means missing part of a season.

A wrap is film. It goes on faster and comes off later. While it is on, it shields the gelcoat from sun. If you want graphics, a tournament look, or a color you might change before you sell, vinyl is almost always the better buy.

Where each one wins:

  • Wrap — graphics, logos, color changes, sponsor packages, and anything you may want to change later.
  • Paint — fixing gelcoat that has truly failed, where refinishing is the real goal.

How long does a boat wrap last on the Gulf Coast?

A good marine wrap usually holds five to seven years with care. Boats run around Vermilion Bay, Cypremort Point, and the Gulf work harder for that number. Constant sun, salt, and trailer time all age vinyl faster than a boat kept under a covered slip.

Below the waterline is its own question. Film below the waterline on a boat that stays wet behaves differently than film up top. We spec that part of the job on its own instead of wrapping everything the same way.

What raises or lowers a boat wrap quote?

What mattersWhy it changes your price
Hull lengthThe biggest factor. Both vinyl and labor go up with length.
How much you coverJust the top sides, the full hull, or the hull plus console and trailer.
Hull shapeStrakes, rod lockers, rails, and hardware all mean more cutting and more hours.
DesignA printed custom graphic costs more than a solid or two-tone layout.
Old decals and prepPulling off sun-baked decals and cleaning chalky gelcoat adds time before vinyl goes on.
