Pylon Signs & Multi-Tenant Signs in Lafayette, LA
A pylon sign puts your name up high, where drivers can read it from far down the road. Shopping centers, fuel stops, hotels, and business parks use them because one tall sign does the work of a dozen small ones. Sign Design Pros designs, builds, permits, and installs pylon signs across Acadiana.
The tall structure is only half the job. The other half is the tenant panels — how many fit, how they are ordered, and how easily one can be swapped when a space turns over.

Pylon sign or monument sign?
Both are freestanding. They solve different problems:
| Pick a pylon when | Pick a monument when |
|---|---|
| Traffic moves fast and drivers need to see you early. | Traffic is slow and people are already close to your entrance. |
| You are set back from the road or behind other buildings. | You sit right on the street with a clear view. |
| Several tenants share one sign. | One business owns the whole property. |
| You want the sign visible over a parking lot or a rise in the road. | You want a low, landscaped look at the driveway. |
What decides the size and height
- Local code. Lafayette and the surrounding parishes cap sign height and face area, and the cap often changes by road type.
- Speed of the road. The faster traffic moves, the bigger your letters have to be to be read in time.
- Setback. A sign farther from the road needs to be taller to clear trees, parked trucks, and other signs.
- Tenant count. Every panel you add makes the cabinet taller, and the cap on total height does not move.
- Wind load. South Louisiana wind ratings drive the pole size and the foundation depth.
Building, refacing, and keeping it working
Most pylon work falls into three buckets. New builds start with a survey, a code check, and an engineered foundation. Refaces keep the existing structure and replace only the faces, which is the fastest and least expensive way to look new. Service work covers a dead lamp, a cracked face after a storm, or a panel swap when a tenant moves out.
We do all three. If you own a center, we can keep a set of blank panels on file so a new tenant goes up in one visit instead of three.
